High Above Tribeca, a Manhattan Masterpiece
It takes a lot to stand out in Tribeca these days, and the dramatic glass-wrapped edifice at 111 Murray Street does just that. Rising 794 feet over lower Manhattan, this graceful residential tower, completed just last year, features 156 impressive homes, including our property of the day, Apartment 34A.
Acclaimed interior designer David Mann styled the residences of 111 Murray; Apartment 34A features three bright bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms in 1,939 square feet. Mann, the founding partner of Chelsea-based MR Architecture + Decor, has created living spaces that manage to be both airy and intimate. With a corner great room as its centerpiece, Apartment 34A offers soaring views to the north and east — and straight down, to parklike gardens designed by landscape architect Edmund Hollander.
The kitchen, no surprise, represents the culinary cutting-edge. The Mann-designed custom cabinetry gleams in oak with a “cerused” finish, recalling the age-old process of filling the grain of a porous wood surface with pigment (formerly “ceruse,” an archaic term for white lead) for a glowing whitewash effect. Hand-selected Calacatta Borghini marble adorns waterfall countertops and a spacious island, and appliances boast a who’s-who of top-tier names, including Wolf, Sub-Zero, and Miele. The white marble treatment continues in the bathrooms, and the master bath invites with a freestanding BluStone soaking tub.
If the lobby of 111 Murray evokes a five-star urban hotel, it should: The space owes its sleek style to designer David Rockwell of the Rockwell Group, whose long, long résumé includes work for W Hotels, Ritz-Carlton, Andaz, and others. And the resort aura extends well beyond the front desk; the building features two swimming pools, a hot tub, and a sauna, with full locker rooms, treatment rooms, a Drybar hair salon, and a wellness room with a full-size heated stone hammam. There’s a 3,000-square-foot fitness center, as well, and a quiet room for yoga, private training, and meditation. Finally, 111 boasts a media room, a kids playroom, and a glam resident lounge, along with a sprawling private dining room with kitchen.
Priced at $5,795,000, Apartment 34A at 111 Murray Street is represented by Corcoran agent Christopher Knight.
