Commencement ceremonies across the country, like so many other public events this year, have fallen by the wayside. But the lack of pomp and/or circumstance doesn’t mean that new grads should be forced to forgo the wit and wisdom of a great commencement address. To that end, the New York Public Library’s always-insightful blog has put together a roundup of memorable graduation speeches. The list includes works by George Saunders and Carl Hiaasen, along with writer Kurt Vonnegut’s evergreen anthology of college commencement addresses, If This Isn’t Nice, What Is?
