Read for Racial Understanding

For nearly a century, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture has promoted programs and voices that chronicle the Black experience. Now, as a united voice calls out for justice, the center has curated the Black Liberation Reading List for the New York Public Library — 95 titles that have educated and inspired activists and archivists during the 95 years of the center’s existence. From fiction and poetry to essays and academic texts, the list recommends readings for anyone who wants to understand current events, and the struggles that have led our country here.
