Hudson Valley

A dark modern house with a sloped roof sits surrounded by green trees and bushes, with a field of yellow wildflowers in the foreground under a clear blue sky—a serene scene reminiscent of an a-list: november 2025 retreat.

What’s Here: A serene Columbia County retreat of 34+ acres with a three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath house at its heart. Featured in the pages of Architectural Digest, this arrestingly gorgeous house is clad in shou sugi ban siding, an 18th century Japanese wood-treating technique that chars the wood and seals it with natural oil, resulting in a textured and velvety charcoal black siding. The interiors are just as distinctive as the exteriors, with a double-height living room that boasts a wood-burning fireplace and a 16-foot-wide retractable glass wall that opens to panoramic views of natural splendor.
